20 Dec 2018
MFB firefighters are battling to protect neighbouring homes after a blaze has engulfed a single story house in Heidelberg Heights.

Crews were called to the Waterdale Road address just before 8:15pm and arrived on scene just four minutes later to find a brick and timber house well alight.

The fire quickly spread to the roof space of the house, and when initial crews arrived they were confronted with smoke and flames coming from the windows and roof of the home.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are conducting an external attack and working to bring the blaze under control.

Access to the fire is restricted and crews are working from an aerial appliance to gain better access to the fire.

Thankfully there are no reports of injuries.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria are working closely with firefighters at the scene, it is expected emergency personnel will be on scene for some time.

UPDATE: The hard work of crews has ensured the fire was declared under control at 8:40pm.

The fire has been deemed as suspicious and the scene has been handed to Victoria Police.
