House fire leads to drug bust in Cairnlea

A stash of illegal drugs was uncovered at a Cairnlea house fire on Saturday.

After receiving the call just after midnight, MFB fire crews were on scene at the Eaglehawk Court home withing four minutes.

On arrival they found the single storey brick house well involved in fire.

A thorough search was conducted and confirmed that no-one was inside.

The damage has caused extensive fire, heat and smoke damage throughout the entire property.  The fire took 25 minutes to bring under control.

Firefighters reported that it appeared illicit drugs were onsite.  Police are on scene investigating.

The cause of the fire is currently undetermined and MFB Fire Investigators have been advised.

A fire duty remained throughout the night, to continue to extinguish and clean up.

Six MFB fire appliances and one from CFA attended the incident.
