House fire in Ormond overnight

Firefighters have spent the early hours of this morning battling a house fire in Ormond.

Crews were alerted to the incident on Cadby Avenue after a passer by noticed the blaze and called Triple Zero (000) just after midnight. 

Approximately 30 firefighters responded and arrived to find the single storey house engulfed in flames. 

Wearing Breathing Apparatus for protection, firefighters attempted to gain entry to attack the fire but were initially forced back by a roof collapse.

Shortly after, firefighters were able to safely gain access to the building and determine that no one was inside.

Thanks to the quick work of crewsthe fire was brought under control in less than half an hour.

MFB remained on scene throughout the night and Victoria Police is investigating the incident.
