House fire in Hawthorn East

MFB firefighters quickly gained the upper hand of a fire which broke out at a Hawthorn East home last night.

Crews were called to the property in Munro Street about 10.45pm following multiple Triple Zero (000) calls raising the alarm.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus searched the building and were able to establish that no one was inside.

They attacked the fire from inside the premises and got it under control within 16 minutes.

The cause of the incident is being investigated.
