House fire Airport West, neighbours alert sleeping occupants.

The rear section of the house including its contents was severely damaged by fire with a large section of the roof at the rear collapsing at the height of the blaze.

Two people asleep in the premises at the time were alerted by neighbours and escaped the burning building, one suffering smoke inhalation and the other suffering from smoke inhalation and minor burns to the back.

The remainder of the house has suffered extensive heat and smoke damage.

No working smoke alarms were located inside the premises

Under control in 10 minutes.

Breathing apparatus in place and Fire Duty in place.

Building Surveyor to attend to check the structural integrity of the premises

MFB Fire Investigation Unit will attend to establish the cause of the fire.
