Hopper catches fire in Cheltenham

A Fire Alarm Panel alerted MFB crews to a building fire in Cheltenham at 11:39pm.

More than 30 firefighters were responded to the building in Bay Road and located a fire in a two storey hopper.

Firefighters commenced an internal attack on the fire and used a Ladder Platform appliance to gain access to the blaze.

Crews also used hose lines to spray water on an exposed wall to contain the spread of the blaze.

The fire was declared under control less than one hour after MFB crews arrives on scene.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria also assisted on scene.
