High Angle Rescue firefighters securing metal sheet in CBD

back to list
26 Oct 2019
MFB’s specialist High Angle Rescue Technicians (HART) have been deployed to a building on Elizabeth Street where a metal sheet has become dislodged from the roof of a three storey building due to high winds.

Emergency services have closed Elizabeth Street between Little Lonsdale and Latrobe Streets to ensure public safety.

Firefighters are on the roof of the building, and are using ropes to secure the sheet from above.

This is a complex operation due to the high winds.

The roads will remain closed until crews are confident the area is safe to ensure pedestrians and motorists in the city are not in danger.

There are currently four MFB appliances on scene in addition to a HART pod and a Command unit.
