Heathmont home severely damaged by fire

back to list
13 Aug 2010
MFB crews from Croydon & Ringwood were confronted with a brick home totally involved in fire this evening.

Initially reports indicated a person may be inside and extra crews were requested. Crews from Nunawading, CFA Bayswater & CFA Boronia also quickly responded. After water attacks from all sides the fire was under control in 30 mins.

The roof collapsed at the height of the fire and searches of the home have not located any person within, Police on scene are understood to know where the occupant was.

Given the age of the premises it is thought that Asbestos may be involved and appropriate decontamination procedures were undertaken. An MFB Fire Investigator will attend in daylight hours and Council has also been asked to attend in daylight.

MFB crews will be in attendance overnight and at this time due to the roof collapse no cause has been ascertained.
