Several calls were received for a house fire in Heatherton on Wednesday night.

MFB firefighters were alerted to the incident on Boundary Road just after 10pm. Initial crews arrived in less than six minutes and were met with a single storey home fully engulfed in flames.

More than 25 firefighters launched an external attack on the blaze due to the instability of the structure.

The fire was given the under control status after one hour and fifteen minutes.

Two occupants required treatment by paramedics for smoke inhalation.

MFB’s specialist fire investigators will work to determine the cause of the fire.

CFA firefighters also assisted at the scene.
