Firefighters battled through the scorching heat to extinguish a fire that broke out in Glenroy late this afternoon.

Crews were alerted to the property on Bindi Street just before 5pm after reports of flames issuing from the property.

Initial crews arrived in six minutes and were forced attack the blaze externally due to the intensity of the fire. The quick work of crews managed to contain the fire from spreading to surrounding properties.

The fire was under control in less than 20 minutes.

Crews did a thorough search of the premises and thankfully no one was home at the time.

Firefighters determined there were suspicious circumstances surrounding the blaze and the scene will be handed over to Victoria Police once it is deemed safe.
