On arrival firefighters were confronted with a large garage fire with houses in close proximity on both sides.

The fire in Yungerra St Fawkner had already extended into the eaves and roofspace of both houses by the time the 24 MFB firefighters arrived at the house.

Quick action from the firefighters halted the further spread of the fire through the houses, however there was significant damage to the roof space and bedroom area to one of the houses.

The fire was caused from an electrical fault in the garage. Damage is expected to be between $250,000 and $300,000.
