Garage fire in Heidelberg West

More than 20 firefighters have contained a blaze that broke out in a garage in Heidelberg West late this afternoon.

Crews were alerted to the incident at 4:49pm after a number of Triple Zero (000) callers sighted flames from the property on Leyte Parade.

Upon arrival firefighters found that the blaze spread from garage to the single storey home.

Firefighters were able contained the fire to front room and adjacent roof space within 20 minutes.

Two occupants self-evacuated and one received treatment by paramedics at the scene.  

The cause of the fire has not been determined. MFB Fire Investigation Specialists will attend and conduct a full investigation.
