Four escape house blaze in Burwood East

MFB fire crews had difficulty gaining access to a fire in a two-storey house in Burwood this morning.

Crews were called to the Cam Street home in Burwood East at 2.52am, and found the fire involved the roof space.

Working smoke alarms operated, alerting the four occupants to the fire who evacuated safely.  There were no reports of injury.

The fire was declared under control at 03.38am.  The fire was not suspicious and has caused an estimated $300,000 damage.

Nine appliances attended the fire, with 25 firefighters on scene.
