25 Jun 2019
MFB firefighters have responded to a house fire in Footscray just before 1pm, following several Triple Zero (000) calls reporting significant smoke and ash.

Crews arrived to the Donald Street address within three minutes and found the weatherboard home well involved in the blaze.

There were initial reports of unaccounted residents and firefighters donned in breathing apparatus immediately conducted an internal search of the premises.

Thankfully no one was home at the time of the fire, and crews focused their efforts on containing the blaze and prevented it spreading to neighbouring properties.

The fire was declared under control in less than 18 minutes after MFB’s arrival on scene.

It is unknown what started the blaze and MFB fire investigators are working to determine the exact cause.
