Footscray Textile Factory Fire

MFB has advised people in the Cowper Street, Footscray area of heavy smoke from a fire at a textile recycling factory.

People in the vicinity, especially those with health and respiratory issues, have been advised to stay indoors and keep windows and doors closed and not to use air conditioners.


The fire caused major structural damage to the factory and MFB crews expect to be on scene for the rest of the day to manage smouldering textile bales.


Updates will be issued throughout the day.
