The quick work of MFB crews protected neighbouring homes after a fire broke out in a garage this evening.

Firefighters were called to Denny Street just after 7pm and found the attached garage fully alight and threatening surrounding properties.

More than 25 firefighters commenced an aggressive attack on the fire and managed to contain the damage to the garage.

The incident was declared under control in 23 minutes.

The adjoining house was heavily smoke logged and crews remain on scene to ventilate the property and ensure all hot spots are extinguished.

Thankfully all residents evacuated prior to MFB’s arrival.

It is not clear how the fire started and MFB’s specialist Fire Investigation Analysis Unit will attend at first light to determine a cause.
