Two people have been taken to hospital following a fire at a vacant house in Footscray in the early hours of this morning.

MFB crews were called to the incident in Barkly Street at 12.30am following several Triple Zero (000) calls.

They arrived on scene in four minutes to find the weatherboard house in flames.

As firefighters entered the burning building to search for occupants, two people evacuated. The duo was transported to hospital by Ambulance Victoria.
