Firefighters battle Elwood fires

MFB firefighters were called to Elwood just before 3pm after reports of a house fire.

It’s believed the fire started from the fence are at the rear of one property on Meredith St and quickly spread to a neighbouring property on Lawson Street.

Firefighters launched an aggressive attack on the fire and worked hard to stop the fire from spreading in the challenging wind conditions.

Efficient work from crewsensured the fire was brought under control just before 4pm.

At this stage it's not yet known what caused the fire to start. 

A woman was treated by Ambulance Victoria paramedics on scene.

At the height of the incident there were more than 10 appliances on scene including aerial and rescue units.
