Fire in Thai massage palour laundry

After receiving several calls for a restaurant fire in Hardware St in the CBD, MFB firefighters arrived to find a smoke issuing from a restaurant.

Crews were called to the Hardware Street property about 11.20pm.

After gaining access fire was found to be in an adjoining Thai massage establishment.

Firefighters quickly extinguished a fire in the laundry which was confined to the room of origin. The fire, however heavily smoke logged the building and firefighters worked to extract smoke.

Investigation found that cause was an overheating of a dryer which had been left operating drying towels.

This highlights the message of not leaving dryers operating unattended and ensuring dryers have proper maintenance.

Breathing Apparatus was utilised at this fire. Eight appliances and 24 firefighters attended the blaze.
