Sprinkler system prevents fire from taking hold in apartment building

Early this morning a fire was held in check by a correctly operating sprinkler service installed in this apartment building.
The fire was confined to one apartment that was under renovation with some water damage to the units below.
When the  alarm was raised 40 people were evacuated from the bilding.  Most of the residents except those that occupied the unit below were allowed back in after the fire was extinguished and clean-up had begun.
The cause of the fire has been deemed suspicious and crews will be on scene for some time cleaning up and making the area safe.
