Fire at restaurant in North Melbourne

Approximately 30 MFB firefighters responded to a fire at a Victoria Street address in North Melbourne just before 5pm this evening.

Crews arrived on scene within five minutes to find a timber construction on fire in the beer garden of a restaurant.

All patrons and staff at the venue were evacuated to safety.

Firefighters worked quickly to stop the spread of the fire to the main building.

The fire was brought under control at 5:30pm and contained to the rear of the property.

No injuries have been reported.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria are on scene assisting.

MFB crews will remain on scene dousing the hot spots until it is made safe.

The public is advised to avoid the area while emergency services respond.
