Crews responded to an installed fire alarm at an apartment complex on Bell St at 3:43pm this afternoon.

Firefighters in Breathing Apparatus attacked a blaze on the building's seventh floor and evacuated all occupants.

The building's sprinkler system prevented the fire spreading.

The blaze was under control in 20 minutes.

There is extensive smoke logging to the building due to the fire involving a mattress.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

Seven appliances and 26 firefighters attended the fire, with Police and Ambulance crews also assisting.
