The fire has been contained to the kitchen area of the two storey brick building.

Address: Blackburn Rd/Monash Freeway, Mount Waverley.

It originated around the stove before spreading up into the flue area and into the ceiling.

A large area of the kitchen has been severely damaged by fire while other sections of the premises have been damaged by heat and smoke.

The fire was under control in 15 minutes.

MFB Fire Investigation Unit will attend during daylight hours to establish a cause
