A young lady in her 20’s has sustained over 30% burns this evening following an accident when cleaning her kitchen.

Whilst wiping the cupboards with metholated spirits the cleaning cloth came into contact with the operating gas cooker and ignited, setting her alight.
Her brother rang 000 for assistance after extinguishing her.
Ambulance Victoria transported her to the Alfred Hospital with serious burns.
The MFB strongly advises that all flammables are stored and used well away from heat sources (eg. Gas/electric stoves/ovens). Ensure that you have a fire extinguisher and fire blanket and now how to use them.
