16 Oct 2012
An elderly person has died in their burning home this morning.

MFB firefighters arrived on scene at the Caroline Crescent, Blackburn North, home within five minutes of receiving the call, about 2.30am.
There they found the side of the single storey, brick veneer home and adjoining fencing on fire.  Firefighters brought the fire under control in 15 minutes.
Firefighters searched the property wearing breathing apparatus, which was made difficult due to the heavy fire load contained within the property, and located the deceased.
The fire has severely damaged three rooms with partial roof collapse.
Three appliances and 13 firefighters attended the blaze.
MFB Fire Investigators and the police are on scene to determine the cause of the fire.
