Family of six evacuate from large house fire after smoke alarm sounds.

A smoke detector activated and alerted an occupant to the fire that affected a large portion the Brunswick home.

The occupant then alerted her other five family members in the house, and consequently they all safely evacuated.
Quick action by the firefighters arriving first prevented the fire from spreading to adjoining properties some of which suffered minor damage.
The cause at this stage is unknown and fire investigators will attend this morning. 
Approximately 25 firefighters attended.
