Concerns from neighbours were raised for the family believed to be home at the time. The working smoke alarm alerted the family of four who self evacuated.

On scene within 5 minutes of receiving the first call from neighbours, MFB firefighters arrived to find the two storey brick home fully engulfed by fire.

The fire took an hour to bring under control.  Firefighting operations were hampered by the lack of readily accessible fire hydrants (possibly due to being covered by landscaping).

Commander Taylor estimates the damage to be approx. $750,000.  The top floor has been severely damaged by fire and the lower level significantly damaged by smoke and water.

Police and Fire Investigators will be investigating this fire as it has been deemed of a suspicious nature.

Approximately 25 firefighters attend the fire.
