back to list
22 Dec 2019
The quick thinking of a passer-by raised the alarm after a fire broke out at a factory in Nunawading late Saturday night.

At 11:33pm the caller rang Triple Zero (000) and while speaking to the Emergency Services Telecommunication Authority (ESTA) operator, the sounds of breaking glass could be heard in the background and the response was immediately upgraded.

The first firefighting appliance arrived in three minutes and was met with a 10 X 30 metre building issuing smoke from the rear.

Firefighters donned in breathing apparatus launched into action with the teleboom appliance supporting efforts from above.

More than 30 firefighters worked to bring the fire under control after 45 minutes.

The scene has been handed over to Victoria Police due to suspicious circumstances.

CFA firefighters also assisted at the scene.
