back to list
06 Dec 2018
Three houses and an RSL were evacuated following a gas leak in Reservoir last night.

MFB firefighters were called to the corner of Cleeland and Spring streets about 11.30pm after road workers using an excavator ruptured a high pressure gas main.

The main was located in a two metre trench.

Firefighters acted swiftly to disperse the gas cloud using large sprays of water while Victoria Police evacuated surrounding homes and the RSL as a precaution.

Firefighters also conducted air monitoring in the area.

Crews remained on scene until about 4am when the gas company was able to shut off the gas and the scene was made safe.
