Electrical sub-station fire in Laverton North.

Approximately 1,000 litres of oil used in the cooling transformer of the sub-station became very hot at the height of the blaze.

On arrival, firefighters were confronted with a fire in an electrical sub-station with access into the fire being made very difficult by several chained gates.
Foam was used to both extinguish the fire and cool the oil down.
The fire was brought under control in around 33 minutes with breathing apparatus in operation.
Approximately 20 firefighters attended.
