Eastern Hill HQ Update

back to list
14 Dec 2011
MFB HQ testing nearly complete

Further testing continues at the MFB’s Eastern Hill complex following a diesel leak last week.

MFB fire and emergency services have been operating from alternative locations and will not return to the HQ station until at least Saturday (17 December) to allow full testing and remediation work.

Staff working in the office areas will not return to work unless they are performing critical functions until Monday (19 December).

“We’re still able to perform to expectations though the situation is not ideal. We’ve used stations on the city fringe to ensure service is maintained and the system works well,” said MFB CEO Nick Easy.

"The plan remains to re-occupy the complex, but we will do it in stages and only if the independent experts, including an Occupational Hygienist, has first given us full assurance it is safe to do so," said MFB CEO Nick Easy.

"It’s an inconvenience especially as we approach Christmas but health and safety remains the priority."

MFB's regular Friday Firefighting Display at the Eastern Hill complex is cancelled until further notice. Please check the website for the next session. Apologies for any inconvenience.
