Early morning fire in Sydenham

back to list
31 May 2019
It took firefighters less than an hour to extinguish a fire that took hold of a Sydenham home overnight.

MFB firefighters were called to the double storey house on Pastoral Pl at 4:44am after a Triple Zero (000) caller raised the alarm.

Upon arrival, crews were met with flames extending through the back room and windows of the home.

More than 25 firefighters wearing breathing apparatus conducted an internal attack on the fire. A teleboom appliance was also used at the front of the property to control the fire from spreading.

The incident was declared under control at 5:27am.

Thankfully, the occupants self-evacuated before MFB arrival and there are no injuries.

It is not known what started the blaze and MFB’s Fire Investigators will work to determine the cause.
