31 Oct 2018
MFB responded to a call regarding a fire at a single-storey building in Watt Street in Sunshine at 1:24am this morning.

The first appliance arrived on scene in six minutes to find the 20 X 60 meter building issuing significant smoke and flames from the rear.

Firefighters in breathing apparatus established hose lines onto the building and onto adjacent buildings which may be at risk.

More than 25 firefighters worked hard to bring the blaze under control in just over an hour.

A community warning was issued for the area at the start of the incident due to the thick smoke plum. The warning has ceased and there is no threat to the public.

There were no reports of any injuries.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria were also in attendance.

The fire has been deemed suspicious and Victoria Police is investigating.
