Crews stop the spread of grassfire in Richmond

MFB firefighters were called to Victoria Street in Richmond following reports of a grass fire underneath a bridge on Sunday evening.

Crews were alerted to the incident near Acacia Pl at 5:40pm and were met with a grass fire underneath a bridge that was beginning to spread and immediately requested additional resources. 

More than 20 firefighters worked to contain the fire which caused damage to the bridge. The incident was deemed under control in less than 45 minutes.

Victoria Police will investigate the cause of the blaze.
