Crews stop the spread of a grass fire in Delahey

Fireworks are believed to have sparked a grass fire in Delahey last night.

Approximately 24 firefighters were called to a paddock on Sydenham Road just before 10pm to find a large paddock alight with the fire spreading towards homes.

MFB crews were able to knock down the fire before it endangered nearby homes.

The fire was declared under control 20 minutes after crews arrived on scene.

Thankfully, no one was hurt in the incident and no damage to property has been reported.

Victoria Police were on scene assisting.
