Crews respond to Hawthorn East fire

MFB was called to a two-storey house on Neave St at 12:13pm this afternoon.

Firefighters in Breathing Appartus contained the fire to the first-floor bedroom and adjacent roof space.

The blaze was under control in 35 minutes.

The home's occupant had safely evacuated before crews arrived due to working smoke alarms.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria assisted on scene, and fire investigators will attend to determine the cause of the fire.
