16 Apr 2019
MFB firefighters are currently on scene in St Albans following a unit fire this afternoon.

Crews were called to the Ruth Street address just before 12.30pm following numerous Triple Zero (000) calls.

They arrived to find the two bedroom unit ablaze and the resident unaccounted for.

Firefighters quickly searched the property and found that, luckily, the occupant was not home at the time.

Crews managed to gain the upper hand of the blaze and get it under control within 20 minutes.

The fire was contained to the front room and roof space of the property.

It's believed the incident was caused by an electrical issue.

Firefighters will remain on scene to ensure any hot spots are fully extinguished.
