Firefighters have made quick work of a blaze at a unit in Kings Park this morning.

Following multiple calls to Triple Zero (000) from concerned neighbours, MFB firefighters arrived to the Herald Walk property to find a 10m x 10m unit fully engulfed by flames.

Crews wearing Breathing Apparatus conducted an aggressive attack and managed to contain the fire in just eight minutes, plus stop it from spreading to adjacent properties.

Nearby residents were evacuated from their homes to ensure their safety.

Initially, it was feared that the occupant of the unit was unaccounted for. Following two thorough searches of the property, firefighters thankfully confirmed that no one was home.

Approximately 13 firefighters and five appliances from Taylors Lakes, St Albans, Sunshine, and Footscray Fire Stations were dispatched to this incident.

Victoria Police are trying to make contact with the owner of the unit. CFA Firefighters and Ambulance Victoria paramedics are also on scene.

At this stage, the cause of the fire is yet to be determined. MFB’s specialist Fire Investigation teams will attend to examine the scene.
