Crews control suspicious house fire in Croydon South

Victoria Police have arrested a man who allegedly set fire to a property in Croydon South on Tuesday evening.

MFB firefighters arrived on scene just before midnight and quickly donned breathing apparatus and went inside the property to ensure there were no occupants inside.

Thankfully the search efforts confirmed that residents had evacuated safely.

Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire and got the incident under control after approximately 20 minutes.

The fire has been deemed as suspicious and the circumstances are being investigated by Victoria Police.

At the height of the fire there were 30 firefighters in attendance, along with seven firefighting appliances including an aerial and a rescue unit.
