Approximately 20 firefighters have fought to control a suspicious blaze in Ringwood this evening.

MFB was called to a house on Heywood Street just before 8pm. On arrival they were confronted with a well involved fire which was issuing a large amount of smoke.

Initial crews arrived to the scene in less than four minutes after they were dispatched.

Wearing breathing apparatus, crews conducted an internal search of the premises – thankfully there are no reports of injuries.

The quick work of firefighters ensured the fire was brought under control in less than 20 minutes.

The scene was deemed as suspicious and has been handed over to Victoria Police for further investigation.

There is still a lot of smoke in the surrounding area, and MFB has issued a community advice message.
