More than 25 firefighters worked to extinguish a fire that broke out in Sunshine on Tuesday night.

MFB firefighters were alerted to the incident on Wright St at 10:30pm after a passer-by reported flames and smoke bellowing from a building.

Initial crews arrived within minutes and found multiple piles of rubbish and a chimney flue alight inside the factory.

The fire was deemed under control within 20 minutes of the first Triple Zero ‘000’ call. Firefighters remained on scene for several hours maintaining fire duties including extinguishing hot spots.

The cause of the fire was deemed suspicious and has been handed over to Victoria Police for further investigation.
