Community warning issued for Tullamarine house fire

MFB crews were called to Melrose Drive in Tullamarine shortly before 2am, following several Triple Zero (000) calls reporting black smoke.

Firefighters arrived on scene to find a house fully involved in fire.

Crews commenced an external attack on the fire to contain the blaze to the property.

The fire was declared under control approximately 35 minutes after firefighters arrived at the scene.

Firefighters have conducted an initial search of the property and it is not believed anyone was home at the time of the fire. 

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria crews are also assisting on scene.

There is a lot of smoke in the area, and MFB has issued an advice message for community nearby. 

Firefighters are expected to remain on scene for some time.

At this stage the cause of the blaze is unknown, however it will be investigated once the scene has been made safe.

At the height of the fire there were approximately 30 firefighters and eight firefighting appliances on scene.
