03 Dec 2019
MFB firefighters and hazmat technicians are currently working to contain a chemical spill on the Western Ring Road near Derrimut.

Crews were dispatched to the incident at 7:25am after a car collision caused a trailer carrying hydrochloric acid to flip on its side.

Firefighters in protective chemical suits are working to isolate the leak and are expected to remain on scene for some time while the product is cleaned up, placed into air tight chemical recovery drums and the area is made safe.

There were no reported injuries.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria are also assisting at the scene.
