Chemical incident in Port Melbourne

MFB crews are currently responding to a suspected chemical leak at an aircraft manufacturing facility in Port Melbourne.

Firefighters were called to the scene in Lorrimer Street just before 1.20pm.

MFB specialist HAZMAT Technicians and a Scientific Advisor are on scene.

The premises has been evacuated and investigations are underway to determine the substance. The leak is believed to be contained at this stage.

MFB is using air monitoring equipment to monitor the air quality while investigations are carried out.

Three patients are being treated by Ambulance Victoria.

Victoria Police is also on scene assisting.

This is expected to be a protracted incident and MFB will remain on scene for some time.
