A man is lucky to have escaped injury after his car crashed into a home in Glenroy on Tuesday night.

MFB firefighters were called to the property on Langton St just after 8:30pm and found a car had collided with the side of a house and part of the vehicle made its way inside the home.

The driver of the vehicle self-evacuated prior to firefighters arriving and was assessed on scene by Ambulance Victoria.

MFB Heavy Rescue Operators carefully removed the car and shored up the damaged structure.

The scene was handed back to the owner shortly after 11pm.
