A candle left unattended in a child’s bedroom has sparked a fire in Gladstone Park this evening.

MFB firefighters were dispatched to the Gabrielle Court home just after 9pm following a series of frantic Triple Zero (000) calls.

It was initially feared that a number of children and pets could be in danger, however, when they arrived, firefighters were relieved to find that everyone had escaped the blaze safely.

Crews from MFB and CFA sprung into action and managed to get the fire under control within 10 minutes.

The home has been severely damaged in the fire and firefighters are making arrangements to rehouse the family of ten who have been displaced.

One man was treated at the scene by paramedics for minor smoke inhalation.
