Burnley Tunnel ute fire

back to list
29 Jan 2019
MFB firefighters are on scene in the Burnley Tunnel following a car fire.

Crews were alerted to the incident following numerous Triple Zero (000) calls and arrived on scene in under five minutes.

It appears that a number of cardboard boxes at the rear of a ute caught fire.

Luckily, the Burnley Tunnel sprinkler system quickly extinguished most of the flames.

Firefighters will remain on scene to ensure the blaze is fully extinguished, the ute is removed and lanes are re-opened.

It's anticipated that this will occur soon, however, motorists are advised to seek alternate routes for the time being to avoid delays.
