02 Nov 2013
A passerby has saved a Brunswick resident after noticing their roof on fire.

The resident was alerted to the Brunswick Road blaze at 2.19am on Saturday morning.

The MFB crews from Brunswick and Northcote requested additional trucks due to an adjoining building and heavy smoke logging of the home.

After some 10 minutes the response level was reduced and the attending crews worked to isolate the fire and clear the smoke out.

The occupier suffered some minor smoke inhalation and she was checked out by ambulance crews.

A short time later the occupier was assisted to find alternative accommodation.

It's believed the fire started in a roof mounted air conditioner.
