MFB firefighters have battled a shed fire in Brooklyn today.

Crews arrived on scene in Corrigan Avenue just after 10am and arrived to find the shed alight, with flames threatening nearby homes.

Using quick and efficient firefighting tactics, crews were able to protect neighbouring properties and bring the blaze under control within 20 minutes.

The shed was filled with numerous household items which fuelled the flames.

Approximately 20 residents self evacuated from the adjoining home prior to the arrival of crews.

MFB Fire Investigators have examined the scene and determined the fire is suspicious.

Victoria Police will investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
