14 May 2020
Approximately 30 firefighters have responded to a house fire in Bentleigh East, following several Triple Zero (000) calls just before 4:30pm.

MFB crews arrived on scene at Marlborough Street within six minutes, and found a single storey brick house fully involved in the fire.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus started attacking the blaze externally, then commenced an internal attack to knock down the fire.

The fire was declared under control just after 5:20pm, but crews remain on scene ensuring all hot spots are extinguished.

Fortunately, the occupants of the house had already evacuated prior to MFB’s arrival on scene.

One person was handed into the care of Ambulance Victoria paramedics, and Victoria Police were also assisting at the scene.

A community warning has been issued for smoke in the area.

At this stage the cause of the fire has not been determined.
